You may have arrived here because you are searching for something about our District or you may have landed here by chance. We hope that the information in these pages is of interest, giving as it does a snapshot of some of our activities and relationships. However, it cannot be as good as actually visiting the area and seeing for yourself this beautiful part of God’s world, and catching a glimpse of the work of Methodists here, witnessing alongside other Christians locally and throughout the world.

It is with deep sorrow that I report the death of Deacon Linda Judith Ireland, aged 63, who was stationed to the South Holderness Circuit in 2016. Judith died peacefully on the afternoon of Sunday 14 May 2017. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
Please give thanks for Judith's life, witness and ministry in your prayers. Please also remember in prayer her father Les, brother Andrew, sister in law Lynn, cousin Barbara, and the rest of the family, and Judith's sisters and brothers in the Methodist Diaconal Order.
Information regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. At Judith's request, her funeral will take place at Chester crematorium, followed by a service of thanksgiving at Rhos on Sea Methodist Church, both to be led by Revd Den Harding.
I know that Judith would wish me to express immense gratitude for all the love, prayers, visits, cards, messages and phone calls over the last six weeks since her illness became apparent. She has been overwhelmed by the love and concern of many people, within and beyond the Methodist Church. Thank you all.
A final word of thanks to all those staff who eased Judith's journey on Ward 14 of Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham - they have been exceptional in their care, and Judith was glad to be under their watching eyes. They, more than most, have seen this last journey through with Judith, and I am grateful for their time, skill and compassion. Judith valued every one of them - and knew and called them each by name.

O Love divine, to you we cry in the day and in the night, for you alone can speak to our condition. You alone can search the mind and purify the heart. You alone are infinite in love and you alone can flow over our darkness with the ocean of eternal light. O love divine, to you we cry in the day and in the night. Amen.
George Fox (1624-1691)
Lord, we thank you for the freedoms that are ours. We remember those who are trapped by the decisions and actions of others, as well as by themselves. We pray for those in dark places and ask that they may begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel, know hope restored and freedom gained. We ask that you grant to all the freedom that comes from knowing Christ's transforming love in our lives. Amen.
